Happy Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day.
As a kid I enjoyed learning about the Iron Horse more so than the Babe. In Little League I wanted to play First Base because of him. In high school I was torn when Ripken broke his record as a part of me still wanted Gehrig to own the record. In college I did his entire farewell speech in a public speaking class. I guess it’s safe to say that I have always been fascinated by Lou Gehrig and he’s the reason that I have owned a Yankees cap in my life.
Lou Gehrig, you will never be forgotten. The 4th of July is forever Lou Gehrig day as far as I am concerned.
